Green

I have a new projecting brewing. I went to a free compost class today with Scarlett put on by Hillsborough County Extension Services. They actually gave everyone who attended a free starter compost bin. So starting this week(when DH puts it all together) the Hydock clan will be composting. I am so excited. My plants should be looking their best by Christmas. Thanks to Julie who turned me onto composting. She has a small garden in her backyard where she and her DH compost and grow organic veggies. Julie is definitely green.

So some of you may be asking......why composting? Our household is slowly going green through organic foods, conserving energy in the household, recycling, green paper products and hopefully in the near future green household chemicals. It is easy going green but the extra expense needs to be a slow progression for me and the household budget. But the extra money is so worth the end result which is teaching my children to value the land and animals or else they will go extinct.

Being green is nothing new to me because I get so many wonderful ideas and resources from my friends. We have so many local organic farms around the area that I can buy produce at a lesser cost. Check out this site "Where To Find Local Farms". This is also a wonderful website "The Daily Green". Both these sites I took from Andrea. She is a very green gal. Julie has "The Treehugger" on her blog.

So keep checking back to see how composting is going.

Crap!!! I was signed up for that class and totally forgot about it. Double crap!!! Don didn't have to work until that afternoon so I would have been able to go. Oh well, next time. Please post a picture of the composter they gave you. I was only going for the composter and I want to see if it's worth me going just to get one.
